A ribbon cutting for Moberly’s first ever splash pad at Tannehill Park was held on Friday, July 8, 2022 at 2:00pm to commemorate its opening.

The splash pad features a variety of water features, including ones that pay homage to Moberly’s railroad heritage. Brand new bathrooms were also constructed as part of this project.

According to Moberly Parks and Recreation Director, Troy Bock this was a project that started discussions about in 2017, “Leading up to the sales tax renewal in 2017, we had numerous public meetings, presentations to civic clubs, and much feedback on future projects in addition to our 2011 Master Plan…the splash pad adjacent to downtown was one of the projects that made the cut.”

Bock continued by saying that the one of the goals, besides providing additional recreational opportunities was to renew an aging park, increase future renewal in downtown and provide diversity of attractions for all ages.

“This is a wonderful addition not only to the Depot District, but for families throughout the community to enjoy for many years to come,” said Moberly Area Chamber of Commerce Executive Director, Megan Schmitt.
