Job Description:

The Executive Director of the Moberly Area Chamber of Commerce serves as the visionary leader responsible for guiding the organization towards achieving its mission and strategic objectives. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director oversees all aspects of chamber operations, including but not limited to:

 

  1. Leadership and Strategy:
  • Develop and execute a strategic plan to advance the chamber’s mission and objectives.
  • Provide visionary leadership to inspire and motivate staff, volunteers, and members.
  • Foster a collaborative and inclusive culture that values diversity and promotes innovation.
  1. Membership Development:
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with existing members while actively recruiting new members to increase chamber engagement.
  • Develop and implement programs and services that add value to chamber membership and support member businesses.
  1. Financial Management:
  • Develop and manage the chamber’s annual budget, ensuring fiscal responsibility and sustainability.
  • Identify and pursue funding opportunities, including grants, sponsorships, and partnerships, to support chamber initiatives.
  1. Community Engagement:
  • Function as a visible and respected leader in the community, representing the chamber at events, forums, and meetings.
  • Collaborate with local stakeholders, including government agencies, educational institutions, and nonprofit organizations, to promote economic development and enhance the business environment.
  1. Staff Management and Development:
  • Hire, train, and supervise staff members to support the effective operation of the Chamber.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to staff, fostering a positive work environment and a culture of
  • Responsible for delegating tasks effectively to staff members to promote the organization’s efficiency and growth.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, economics, public administration, or related field. Equivalent work experience in these areas will be considered.
  • Proven leadership experience in a similar role, preferably within a chamber of commerce or business association.
  • Strong understanding of economic development principles, public policy issues, and business advocacy.
  • Excellent communication skills, including public speaking, writing, and relationship-building.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, develop strategic plans, and lead diverse teams.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and experience with membership management software is desirable.
